چکیده

Light microscopy is one of the most powerful techniques for nondestructive real-time imaging specimens at a resolution beyond reach human eyes. However, spatial any conventional microscope fundamentally limited by diffraction light waves lens aperture. Microsphere-assisted (MAM) has emerged in past decade as an interestingly simple yet efficient method to improve resolution. In MAM, micrometer-scale dielectric sphere placed immediate vicinity specimen enhance and magnification. MAM highly versatile can be combined with various systems including wide-field, confocal, fluorescent microscopes name few. The exact enhancement mechanism not clearly understood under intense investigation; however, fundamentally, it linked increase system's effective numerical aperture evanescence wave collection, possibly contributions from photonic nanojet effect, resonance, coherent effects. Various claims have been made literature about gain which are due using arbitrary criteria quantifying possible specimen-specific parameters metallic nanostructures. this Tutorial, we discuss progress special scrutiny

Super-Resolution Real Imaging in Microsphere-Assisted Microscopy

Microsphere-assisted microscopy has received a lot of attention recently due to its simplicity and its capability to surpass the diffraction limit. However, to date, sub-diffraction-limit features have only been observed in virtual images formed through the microspheres. We show that it is possible to form real, super-resolution images using high-refractive index microspheres. Also, we report o...

Super-resolution biological microscopy using virtual imaging by a microsphere nanoscope.

A classical microscope resolves features of around half of the wavelength of illumination λ . [ 1 ] Breaking this limit is possible in near-fi eld scanning optical microscopy using a local evanescent illumination spot, [ 2 ] in integral imaging three-dimensional microscopy, [ 3 ] or by applying a material of negative refractive index, referred to as a ‘superlens’. [ 4–6 ] A far-fi eld superlens...

Partial dark-field microscopy for investigating domain structures of double-layer microsphere film

A lateral dislocation in a double-layer microsphere film is very difficult to identify because the constituent domains have the same two-dimensional crystalline orientation. Orientation-sensitive optical techniques cannot resolve this issue. Here, we demonstrate that partial dark-field (pDF) optical microscopy can be very effective in identifying this type of domain boundary and dislocation of ...

Measuring graphene adhesion using atomic force microscopy with a microsphere tip.

Van der Waals adhesion between graphene and various substrates has an important impact on the physical properties, device applications and nanomanufacturing processes of graphene. Here we report a general, high-throughput and reliable method that can measure adhesion energies between ultraflat graphene and a broad range of materials using atomic force microscopy with a microsphere tip. In our e...

Doppler cooling a microsphere.

Doppler cooling the center-of-mass motion of an optically levitated microsphere via the velocity-dependent scattering force from narrow whispering gallery mode resonances is described. Light that is red detuned from the whispering gallery mode resonance can be used to damp the center-of-mass motion in a process analogous to the Doppler cooling of atoms. The scattering force is not limited by sa...
